In an inspiring display of student leadership and commitment to the future of ÍøÆسԹÏ, the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Students' Union (ASU) has made a $2 million gift to the Build: The Student Centre campaign.

A night of celebration. That’s how Executive Director, Alumni Affairs Oonagh Proudfoot (’93, ’06) described the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Awards Dinner at Pier 21 in Halifax on April 18, 2024. It was an opportunity to celebrate the very fabric of ÍøÆسԹÏ, as more than 300 ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï alumni and friends came together to honour and applaud this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Don Clow (’83), ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching recipient Dr. Caroline Cochran, and The Athenaeum and ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Student of the Year Award recipient, Spencer Richard (’22, ’24).

ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï has received a transformative $1 million gift from the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Association that will propel the Build: The Student Centre campaign closer to its $24 million fundraising goal. The generous donation, announced during the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Awards Dinner[ST1]  in Halifax on April 18, sets the stage for a reimagined student centre that will redefine the university experience on the Wolfville campus.

If you were to combine talent, humility, intelligence, and grace in one person and say that individual was the epitome of what makes ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï great, you would have Spencer Richard. A 4.0 GPA student, student-athlete and captain of the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï football Axemen, Academic All-Canadian, Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience (S.M.I.L.E.) program leader, mentor and role model, Spencer has made the most of his time at ÍøÆسԹÏ. The ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Association takes tremendous pride in his many accomplishments, and is delighted to acknowledge him as the 2024 recipient of The Athenaeum and ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Alumni Student of the Year Award.
