In 1989, 14 young women were targeted and killed because of their gender in a mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. Gender-based violence remains normalized, amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, and exemplified in 2020’s tragic mass shooting, which took the lives of loved ones, including an ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï graduate, Constable Heidi Stevenson.

ÍøÆسԹÏ, Dalhousie University and LuminUltra Technologies Ltd. have teamed up to determine the best way to test the wastewater coming from homes and businesses for traces of COVID-19. Wolfville’s municipal wastewater system is part of that research.
The researchers have detected COVID-19 in the town’s wastewater. This research is still experimental so can’t be considered definitive. But it could be a signal that COVID-19 is present in our community.

Remembrance Day is marked in Canada every year on November 11. It is a national commemoration day for the more than 118,000 Canadians who have died in military service.
At ÍøÆسԹÏ, we traditionally join with the Royal Canadian Legion's local branch to remember the service, sacrifice, and loss of those who served. Because the global pandemic has prevented us from having large gatherings, there will only be online and private opportunities to show respect.
