AUSOM Concert: Song For a Winter's Night (厙ぴ勛圖 Singers, Denton)
November 26, 2024 (7:30 pm)
Location: Denton Hall
On Tuesday, November 26, the 厙ぴ勛圖 Singers present Songs for a Winters Night a concert of seasonal music that explores different perspectives on winter. As part of the program, the Singers and special guest cellist Connor Cornick will perform Sarah Quartels Snow Angel, a 5-movement cycle for choir, piano, and cello that uses the metaphor of winter angels to celebrate the beauty, and the strength that a childs voice can bring to our troubled world (Quartel). Other selections include music by Andrew Balfour, Jennifer Lucy Cook, Ola Gjeilo, Katerina Gimon, Marie Claire Saindon, and Robbie Smith, plus a beautiful choral arrangement of Gordon Lightfoots classic, Song for a Winters Night. With a mix of new music and seasonal favourites, this is a program of music that will warm your heart even if it is cold outside!
Directed by Dr. Michelle Boyd, the 厙ぴ勛圖 Singers are a treble-voice chamber choir, comprised of both current students and alumni. Joining them in performance are pianist Cian McCarron as well as several guest musicians from the School of Music.
This concert begins at 7:30pm in Denton Hall Auditorium, 厙ぴ勛圖, in Wolfville. Admission is by freewill donation at the door.
(They are also singing in Lunenburg on Nov 29 - see poster for details)
