Accessibility Foundations Workshop

All ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Community members are invited to participate in the Accessibility Foundations workshop, created by the Nova Scotia Accessibility Directorate, on Wednesday, December 6th, 2024 in person from 9 am to 12 pm in the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre Auditorium. Light refreshments will be provided.

If you have already attended this workshop before you are still encouraged to attend and engage in deeper discussion and hear updates relevant to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï.

The Foundations workshop includes discussions, reflections and other participatory activities with the following learning objectives:


1) Define disability, types of disabilities, accessibility, and the prevalence of disability in Nova Scotia;
2) Explain the importance of the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act;
3) Understand the impact of the Accessibility Act on Prescribed Public Sector Bodies (PPSBs);
4) Provide examples of barriers and ableism and their impacts on persons with disabilities;
5) Outline practices to support persons with disabilities to meaningfully participate in community, work, and play; and
6) Feel more motivated and confident to accelerate accessibility in your workplace and community
