Did you ever push a hospital bed down the road in an attempt to beat teams from other universities doing the same thing? Take the train to Halifax to watch the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï men’s basketball team tip-off against Saint Mary’s? How about going to the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Theatre in your pajamas or attending Winter Carnival to see the Brothers Four? If any of these ring a bell, this is the reunion for you.

On July 8-10, the Class of 1961 will gather on campus at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï to relive these and many other fond memories. The aim is to capture a sense of mind, body and spirit that illustrates the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï tradition through a celebration of science, music, sports, scholarship and fun.

Plenty of activities and events are on the slate, including a keynote address by renowned cancer specialist Dr. Bob Sutherland (’61); an informal lecture-concert in the K.C. Irving Environmental Centre’s Garden Room by violin virtuoso Warwick Lister (’61); and a reception to honour the contributions of Major Fred G. Kelly to ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï athletics. The Class will also honour Charlotte Burditt Sutherland (’61) by contributing to a scholarship in her name.

A winery tour, kitchen party, barbecue, class meeting at the Old ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï (now the Al Whittle) Theatre and Sunday morning service at the Chapel are in the works as well.

Other classes are hosting reunions this summer too, and include: Class of ’41; ’46; ’51; ’56; ’66; and ’71.
