ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Students went out trick or treating last night to collect food donations around town for this year’s Trick or Eat.

This Halloween, approximately 50 students headed out to collect donations around the community, collecting over 3,350 food donations and over $400 for the Wolfville Food Bank.

Trick or Eat is an annual food drive held by Community Outreach ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï on Halloween, and was coordinated this year by Olivia Dobson with the help Mark O’Reilly, President of Community Outreach ÍøÆسԹÏ. Every year, Trick or Eat attracts student volunteers at ÍøÆسԹÏ, as one of the many volunteer opportunities on campus.

ÍøÆسԹÏ’s Mental Health Initiative is hosting ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Mental Health Week this week. The week is filled with events and activities dedicated to raise awareness and encourage mental health advocacy on campus. It starts with a Wonderland Tea Party, and features events such as a Stigma is Scary Photobooth, a Resource and Support Fair, and a Bystander Intervention Training session. The Mental Health Week has been part of the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Mental Health Initiative for years, and each year events are created and organized largely based students’ feedback and suggestions. 

Tomorrow marks the start of Devour! The Food Film Festival, one of Wolfville’s signature events, and ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï is ready to host the Opening Gala Reception, presented by Taste of Nova Scotia. ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï has been a proud partner of Devour! since its beginning and is excited to officially welcome 12 Nova Scotian chefs to kick off the festival.

Getaway Farm, located outside of Canning, supplies grass-fed beef for hundreds of ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students who dine at Wheelock Hall.

When ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï President Dr. Peter Ricketts released ÍøÆسԹÏ’s response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report in March 2018, a significant goal of the broad ranging strategy was to strengthen ÍøÆسԹÏ’s support for Indigenous students and deepen its connection to Indigenous communities. The strategy included an explicit call for ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï to create a full time position focused on Indigenous student support and advising as well as to act as a coordinator for all campus activities aimed at meeting the challenges outlined by the TRC. Today, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï announced that Dion Kaszas has been named ÍøÆسԹÏ’s Coordinator of Indigenous Affairs and Student Advising starting November 5, 2018.
