Axemen Celebrity Dinner Welcomes Denis Potvin

The 13th Annual ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Axemen Celebrity Dinner welcomes former NHL defensive great, Denis Potvin, to Wolfville on June 24, 2010. Potvin joins a long list of hockey legends, including Gordie Howe, Jean Beliveau, Darryl Sittler and Dennis Hull, who have headlined this important fundraiser for ÍøÆسԹÏ's men's hockey program.  The event will be hosted by CBC sports personality, Bruce Rainnie.

"Our hockey program and local fans have been fortunate to have some the game's greatest names come to the Valley for our annual dinner," said varsity hockey head coach Darren Burns.  "This evening is very important to our team's success on the ice because it gives us the financial support we need to maintain a competitive program and a chance for us to say thank you to our many sponsors. It's also a great opportunity for our players to meet many of our fans - particularly the youngsters who are part of the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Minor Hockey system. ÍøÆسԹÏ's rink is one of the best in the entire country because of the level of fan support at each game and our players benefit through being well-known members of the community."

Denis Potvin spent fifteen seasons in the NHL with the New York Islanders between 1973 and 1988. He was part of the Islander dynasty that won four consecutive Stanly Cups between 1980 and 1983 and won the Calder Cup as the league's top rookie and three Norris Trophies as the league's top defenceman.

The Axemen Celebrity Dinner takes place June 24 at the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï Arena. Single tickets are available for $125 each, $575 for five or $1,000 for ten. In addition to speeches and presentations, the evening will also feature several silent auction items.   For more information, visit or call 902-585-1552.
