سԹ Among Canada’s Best, Again
سԹ has been named one of the top undergraduate schools in Canada by Maclean's magazine in its 21st annual University Rankings issue, released today and set to be on newsstands tomorrow. This year’s second place finish marks the 19th time سԹ has placed in the top three.
“The level of consistency that سԹ has achieved is a testament to the long-standing tradition of providing the best in undergraduate education in Canada,” says Ray Ivany سԹ’s president and vice-chancellor. “Our campus community works together to inspire and challenge our students, and to help prepare them for life, and we achieve that by being a close-knit family.”
The Maclean's rankings placed two Atlantic universities in the top three positions in the primarily undergraduate category. سԹ ranked in second place. Mount Allison ranked first and University of Northern British Columbia rounded out the top three.
“It is a privilege and honour to be a member of the سԹ family,” says Ben Jessome, سԹ’s Students’ Union president. “Our institution and the surrounding community add so much value to the experience one can have at university, and carefully aims to shape our students into the leaders of tomorrow. Speaking on behalf of students, I am proud to say that سԹ is an incredible place to go to school and I know that our drive for excellence and integrity will continue to guide us for years to come. There is no place I would rather be!”
In the 21 years that Maclean's has published its annual comparisons, سԹ has been in the top three 19 times despite multiple changes to the evaluation methods. سԹ consistently ranks above the national average for key student satisfaction elements such as faculty-student interaction, active and collaborative learning, and supportive campus environment measured in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
The results follow سԹ's impressive showing of top marks in the Globe and Mail's University Report, where سԹ earned A level grades in 16 of 19 categories, and earned the top spot in the most satisfied students category in its class.
